Our Postdoctoral Fellowship Program prepares exceptionally qualified and motivated doctoral graduates who strive to become leaders for change in their community through their role in private practice.
It is a year-long, 40-hour-a-week demanding and challenging experience that provides rigorous and pragmatic training in evidence-based psychodynamic and relational individual psychotherapy and emotionally focused couples therapy.

Externship Program
for advanced doctoral students in counseling psychology or clinical psychology.
Embodying Hope For a Better Future
Our Externs form the front-line clinical team of the Capital Therapy Project, our low-fee psychodynamic therapy institute in Downtown DC.
Our Externship program is designed to provide an intensive clinical experience and training rarely available in other training settings.
We emphasize psychodynamic principles in all aspects of the externship program’s clinical services, including brief individual psychotherapy, couples counseling, and working with DC’s LGBTQIA+ community.
The Externship Program is an unpaid 12-month training opportunity emphasizing the extensive use of technological and supervisory resources. We aim to train tomorrow’s psychologists to excel as clinicians and critical thinkers in the evolving landscape of psychodynamic therapy in the digital age.
